Doula & Hospital Collaboration: Strengthening Care for Every Family

Doulas are individuals that have specific training to assist in births, while also providing the mother with support and guidance throughout the pregnancy. The article describes a partnership model that pairs community doulas with clinical providers to improve communication, teamwork, and respectful, equitable maternity care. It strengthens trust between doulas and hospitals and helps address maternal health disparities. First Call Pediatrics has first hand experience interacting with Doulas in the Jacksonville community, through our Expecting Parents Membership which provides prenatal pediatric consultation and planning for newborn care at home. Learn more about our trusted Care Network!
