Pediatric Direct Primary Care

Pediatric direct primary care (DPC) practices are typically small, physician-run offices that emphasize autonomy, meaningful patient relationships, and reduced administrative burden. In a national survey of 73 pediatric DPC physicians, most reported significantly higher job satisfaction compared with prior roles, largely due to improved work-life balance and reduced moral injury. Although many earned less initially, most physicians with practices operating for three or more years reported stable or increased income over time. Early challenges included financial uncertainty, marketing demands, and professional isolation, but overall the model shows long‑term sustainability.
