“I strive to make every family feel supported, informed, and cared for.”
We’re honored to introduce Britteny Winburn, one of our remarkable co‑founders and a dual‑certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner whose career has been dedicated to caring for children at their most vulnerable moments. With years of experience across neonatal intensive care, pediatric intensive care, and ECMO, Britteny brings extraordinary clinical expertise, and a deeply compassionate heart, to every family she serves.
From the earliest days of her nursing career, Britteny has been drawn to the resilience of children and the strength of the families who love them. Her work in high‑acuity environments has shaped not only her skillset, but also her belief that families deserve accessible, calm, and deeply supportive pediatric care from clinicians who truly listen. Before becoming a nurse practitioner, Britteny spent 8 years as a pediatric and NICU nurse, caring for children and newborns across the full spectrum of acuity. That experience shaped her deep respect for evidence-based medicine, thoughtful decision-making, and family-centered care. Her commitment to providing the highest level of pediatric care is what led her to become dual certified in both primary and acute care pediatrics.
Britteny’s journey is defined through her expertise and compassion. She began her nursing journey at Jacksonville University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She later advanced her training at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, completing her Master of Science in Nursing degree and becoming a dual‑certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in both Primary Care and Acute Care, a rare and highly respected combination.
Her clinical experience is both broad and profound. Over the years, Britteny has served in multiple critical roles at Wolfson Children’s Hospital, including Neonatal Intensive Care Nurse, Pediatric Intensive Care Nurse, Charge Nurse and ECMO Specialist, caring for children requiring the highest level of life support. She has experience as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in the NICU at UF Health Jacksonville, where she cared for fragile newborns and support families through some of their most emotional and defining moments. She is here to help children thrive at every stage, from newborn days to teenage years. These experiences have shaped her into a clinician who is not only highly skilled, but also deeply attuned to the emotional needs of parents navigating uncertainty.
Britteny understands the vision for better pediatric care. After years in traditional hospital settings, Britteny saw how overwhelming the healthcare system can be for families, especially those with newborns or medically complex children. Long waits, rushed visits, and the stress of transporting little ones to appointments often left parents feeling unheard and unsupported. Combining this with having her own child, Britteny experienced firsthand the lack of support families often face once they leave the hospital. That realization became the driving force behind co-founding First Call Pediatrics. She set out to create a true village for current and future parents—one that not only prioritizes excellent pediatric care but also supports the family as a whole.
Her vision is rooted in accessible, compassionate, family‑centered care that meets parents where they are, both literally and emotionally. She believes pediatric care should feel calm, connected, and collaborative. Families deserve time, attention, and guidance from clinicians who understand the full picture, not just the symptoms. With a passion for building long-term relationships, Britteny believes pediatric care should feel accessible, supportive, and never rushed. As both a provider and practice founder, she is deeply invested in creating a concierge care model where parents feel heard, confident, and supported and where children are given the opportunity to truly thrive.
Through First Call Pediatrics, Britteny is committed to creating a model of care where parents feel empowered, children feel safe, and families feel truly supported from the very first visit. Her goal was to be a part of something that catered towards family-centered pediatric care in Jacksonville, FL.
Britteny lives live enriched by family and fulfillment. While Britteny’s professional life is defined by dedication and expertise, her personal life is grounded in joy, family, and the everyday moments that matter most. She brings the same warmth she offers her patients to her own home where she lovingly cares for her young daughter. When she’s not caring for patients, you’ll find her chasing her toddler, traveling to new cities with her best friends, getting lost in a good book, or fishing with her husband. Britteny’s passion for children extends far beyond the hospital walls, to her home and to yours.
Whether she’s supporting families through complex medical journeys or celebrating milestones with her own loved ones, Britteny leads with heart, humility, and an unwavering commitment to helping others thrive.
At her core, Britteny believes that families deserve a bounty of support, especially during the early years of a child’s life. Through First Call Pediatrics, she hopes to be part of that community, offering expertise, reassurance, and compassionate care every step of the way.
Whether it’s a well visit, managing a chronic condition, or answering parents’ late-night questions, her mission is simple: she strives to make every family feel supported, informed, and cared for. Her goal is to create a partnership with families through empowering parents with knowledge and children with confidence as they grow. She strongly believes every child deserves individualized care that supports not only their physical health but also their emotional and developmental well-being.
First Call Pediatrics is so proud to have Britteny as a provider on our team.
