Shira Sharifi is the founder of A Birth Connection, where she provides compassionate, evidence-based support to growing families throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. As a birth and postpartum doula, childbirth educator, lactation counselor, Newborn Care Specialist and placenta encapsulation specialist, she is dedicated to helping parents feel informed, confident, and empowered during one of life’s most transformative experiences.
With a Bachelor’s degree in Education Studies, a minor in Child Psychology, and experience supporting more than 200 births, Shira combines professional knowledge with personalized, family-centered care. She believes every family deserves to feel respected, supported, and empowered to make informed decisions that align with their values and birth goals.
Through A Birth Connection, Shira specializes in birth doula support, postpartum care, childbirth education, breastfeeding education and lactation support, newborn care education, sibling doula services, birth planning, labor preparation, and postpartum recovery. She also offers placenta encapsulation and a variety of placenta keepsakes, including prints, casts, tinctures, and salves, providing families with meaningful ways to honor their birth experience.
Shira supports families planning hospital births, birth center births, home births, medicated and unmedicated births, VBACs, inductions, and cesarean births. Her approach is rooted in education, advocacy, and compassionate care, ensuring each family feels heard, respected, and supported every step of the way.
